Hi everyone! I’m Shayla Roukey.

I’m a FIFTH generation Nevadan. I started with English riding at the Age of 9 years old and have been riding Western for the last five years . I enjoy competing in Barrels, Poles and Breakaway for Nevada State High School Rodeo. I’m currently going into my sophomore year with the Washoe County High School Rodeo Club. I recently ran for Nevada State High School Rodeo Secretary. I’m so excited to serve in this role. I can’t wait to support our members, and help make this an awesome year for Nevada High School Rodeo!

Running for Office — 2026–27

For the 2026–27 season, any individual who wishes to run for a position (President, Vice President, Secretary, Public Relations, JH Representative, Queen, and JH Princess) must attend a minimum of 5 rodeos during the qualifying season in order to be eligible to run. This ensures that candidates are actually involved, committed, and familiar with the association they want to represent. It is very important that the contestants representing our state show commitment and dedication.

Furthermore, once a contestant is elected, they would be required to attend 50% of the rodeos during their term. If this requirement is not met, without reasonable circumstances, they would not be allowed to run for office or compete for titles in the future.

The members we have on our board not only represent our state, but the association as a whole.
